Magnum Companies, Ltd. Chooses
IntelEvent
Monterey, CA, September 7, 2005 IntelEvent, the leading
supplier of software in the Event Resource and Supply Industry,
announced the signing of one of its newest customers, The MAGNUM
Companies, Ltd.
The MAGNUM Companies, Ltd. is celebrating its 25th anniversary this
year. MAGNUM is a full service lighting and production company, based in
Atlanta, Georgia serving primarily the Southeast, but working for
clients all over the country. They have five operating divisions:
Production which handles social and special events, trade shows and
corporate meetings; Design which does permanent lighting and technical
systems consulting and design/build for schools, churches and museums;
Retail which sells theatrical equipment and supplies; Rental, which
rents to a wide range of theater and production customers; and Special
Projects which does lighted décor for weddings and events and holiday
décor for corporate and commercial facilities.
MAGNUM had been using a construction industry DOS-based program for
retail inventory control and rental and retail invoicing, and an Excel
data- based application developed for Production and Design for bidding
and internal shop order processing. The Excel application was also
adapted for “computer-assisted” manual rental inventory tracking.
The company was looking for a more reliable rental and retail inventory
management system for tracking the in and out of supplies and gear, as
well as a quicker, more consistent means to price projects. They were
also looking for a less cumbersome way to share information back and
forth between the operating divisions and the business office.
MAGNUM had been looking at various rental software packages off and on
for over ten years. They had heard numerous horror stories over that
time of how difficult some software providers were to work with and get
the systems up and running. (if at all), and that no one seemed to
really understand what the entertainment industry needed in this type of
software.
Todd Finch, Production division manager, met Andrew Ehler, IntelEvent
Sales Manager on the show floor at LDI last year. This was the first
show that MAGNUM really made it a point to seek out and find a rental
software partner. At previous LDI’s, it had been more for ‘tire kicking’
and basic information gathering purposes.
After a great deal of research, MAGNUM was convinced that IntelEvent’s
solution solved the widest range of problem across all the operating
divisions. Finch stated “There was no one single thing that drove this
decision. In the end, it was a combination of the software, the support
and the flexibility of the Intelevent staff that drove our decision. Our
business model is all about team work and we want that to be reflected
in the relationship with the provider of this critical software”.
“We finally have a means of getting all our inventory data (rental and
retail) in one place, available across the board to the entire staff.
Streamlining the bidding, purchasing and invoicing processes will give
all of us more time with customers and on projects, not stuck back in
the office dealing with paperwork” stated Finch.
